Bamboo

BAMBOO_SUBPAGES
We chose to use bamboo for our Shoo-foo line because the environmental impact of the culture of bamboo is low (even compared to that of organic cotton) and textile qualities are remarkable. The smooth material made from the cellulose of bamboo is extremely soft, silky, absorbent, and breathable. It is a real pleasure for the skin. It is also as versatile as cotton. Meaning it can be woven breathable and light for baby bonnets and thick and luxurious for bathrobes.  It meets our requirements for a quality product in the context of sustainable development.

Bamboo is a giant tropical plant of the grass family. It is the fastest growing plant on earth, requiring no more than rain and sunlight to grow plentifully. In ideal circumstances, it can grow up to a meter per day. It reaches maturity in 3 or 4 years. Bamboo is spreading as fast as the most common weed and does not need to be replanted. It requires no fertilizer, pesticides or irrigation.

In addition, bamboo improves soil quality by its high consumption of nitrogen and the air by its high absorption of carbon dioxide and its high production of oxygen per square meter (35% higher than other kinds of forest).

The bamboo used by Shoo-foo grows naturally in China. It is harvested and processed into yarn by local communities. To minimize our ecological impact on the planet, we manufacture our products on site and ship them directly to the destination market. Shoo-foo products provide the market with an eco-sustainable alternative for home linens and an eco baby layette.
