Thanks in part to proceeds from Shoo-Foo Eco Linens in 2010, 100 kids from Vancouver and Victoria learned to live eco-friendly lifestyles last summer by being trained on how to fix bikes and build solar-powered cars. Then they got to reconnect with nature by hiking, swimming and gardening as part of a local organization’s effort to educate youth on sustainable living.
The Friends Uniting for Nature (FUN) Society holds camps at UBC in Vancouver and Fairfield Community Place in Victoria, as well beaches, parks, grassy areas, and forests. Activities get kids out of the house and involved in outdoor activities, so they can think critically about the consequences human action may have on the environment.
FUN Camps was so popular last year, they even had a wait list. Running on a small budget and mostly volunteer commitment, the society depends on its community donors to raise the children of tomorrow.
Shoo-Foo’s devotion to increasing environmental awareness and promoting healthy and sustainable lifestyles made it a perfect partner for the FUN Society. As a donor to FUN Camps, Shoo-Foo endorses environmental awareness and team sustainability efforts that the FUN Society offers.
